Next, at the Sun Bear Conservation Centre, you’ll see the world’s smallest bears in a natural setting. The Sandakan Nature City Tour explores various landmarks, including Sandakan Memorial Park, which commemorates WWII soldiers; Puu Jih Shih Buddhist Temple, offering panoramic views of Sandakan Bay; and St. Michael’s Church, one of the oldest in Sabah. - Start with the morning feeding of orangutans in the forest at Outdoor Nursery.
- Then watch a 25 minutes programme about the Orang Utan at the Nature Education Centre.
- 10:30Visit Bornean Sun Bear Conservation Centre
- Take a leisure walk to the nearby the Bornean Sun Bear Conservation Centre to see the world’s smallest bear in its natural environment.
- 12:00Enjoy a local lunch.
- 13:00Sandakan Nature City Tour
- Sandakan Memorial Park : Visit the park adjacent to the site of the original Sandakan Prisoner of War (POW) Camp, commemorating the sacrifice and suffering of Australian and British soldiers during WWII.
- Puu Jih Shih Buddhist Temple : Visit the temple on a steep hilltop for a magnificent view of Sandakan Bay and the Town Centre.
- St. Michael’s Church : Explore one of the oldest churches in Sabah.
- Central Market : Experience local produce and fresh seafood at the bustling market.
- Agnes Keith Museum : Learn about colonial life through the life of Agnes and Harry Keith. Harry was the first conservator of the Forestry Department in Sabah, and Agnes authored "Land Below The Wind," "Three Came Home," and "White Man Returns."
